The token money for the projects were provided by the World Bank and the additional funds will be raised through other national and international sources, said a press release here on Sunday.
The projects are initiated with the support and patronage of District Nazim Chaudhry Farukh Altaf.
The first project is concerned with capacity building of special education institutions through human resource development and training.
The second project aims at community sensitisation through involvement of community leaders at grass roots level whereas the third project is an initiative for the improvement of general health of children with disabilities by supplementing their nutritional intake.
Implementation of the projects is the responsibility of ORDP's Project Technical Committee comprising experts based at Islamabad, most of whom are former directors of Special Education, Ministry of Women Development, Social Welfare and Special Education.
Local survey team consists of ground-level workers, supervisors, etc, and have been enlisted from the local relevant departments such as LHVs, LHWs and Union Council members.
The major assignment of the survey teams was door-to-door survey of all families in selected segments of urban and rural population of Jhelum to assess the nature and extent of disability, health, education and rehabilitation needs of disabled persons.
